Union & Labor Compliance

If you employ union labor, this add-on is where you keep the records that go with it: the locals you work with, your member roster, the rate tables that drive deductions and employer contributions, and the runs that turn a pay period into per-member figures you can review, export, and pay. SaaSy stores what you enter and does the arithmetic; you decide what the numbers should be.

What's included

Dues RunsComputed dues by pay period, with per-member line items
Fringe ContributionsEmployer contribution runs — one line per worker and fund, plus per-fund reports
Retro PayRetro-pay adjustment runs that re-price already-paid hours
PayeesBank accounts that receive dues remittances and fringe contributions via ACH
Bank SettingsYour company's originating bank details, used when generating ACH files
Remittance CalendarUpcoming and overdue dues and benefit remittances, with reminders

Each local also has its own configuration pages, reached from that local's URL path: rules, classification-rates, fringe-funds, fringe-rates, zone-mappings, and apprentice-ratios. Apprentice step schedules live at apprentice-steps and expect a classification_id query parameter. The Locals table does not link to these pages today, so open them by URL. A member's cumulative-hours record lives under that member's apprentice-progress path.

Setting up a local

  1. Open Locals and select Add Local.
  2. Fill in Name, Local Number, and Sector (Building Trades or Service).
  3. Choose a Remittance CadenceWeekly, Biweekly, Semimonthly, or Monthly — a Deadline (days after period end), and a Report Format (CSV, NED, or Custom). Select Save.
  4. Expand the new row and use Job Classifications to add each classification with a code and a name, then select Add.

Setting a remittance due day on a local that has fringe funds or dues rules is what turns on the entries you see on the remittance calendar.

Recording rates

Rate tables in this add-on are effective-dated: changing a value creates a new row and closes the previous one, so the history stays intact.

  1. On a local's Dues Rules page, select Add rule, then set Membership status, Amount type, Calc method, and Effective from. The remaining fields depend on the method you chose — for example Flat amount ($), Percent (%), Cents per hour ($), with optional Floor ($, optional) and Cap ($, optional). Select Save rule.
  2. To supersede a rule, select Change rate on it. The current open rule is closed with today as its effective_to and a new row is created. End soft-ends a rule as of today.
  3. On Classification Rates, add hourly rates per classification. A rate can carry an optional Zone, Work type (optional), and Shift code (optional).
  4. On Fringe Funds, add each trust fund the local remits to, then use Fringe Rates to set contribution rates per classification and fund. A rate can be Straight-time only, Apprentice-reducible, or scoped to a work type.
  5. On Zone Mappings, map a County — and optionally a Township — to a Zone. More specific rows win over general fallbacks. These lookups feed fringe rates and certified payroll.
  6. On Apprentice Ratios and Apprentice Step Schedule, record the ratio and wage-progression values you want SaaSy to apply. A step defines a percent of the journeyman base rate and an advance threshold in months or hours.

Running dues, fringe, and retro

  1. Dues Runs are created from the payroll integration, or by selecting Manual import and entering ST hrs, OT hrs, and Gross wages ($) per member for a period.
  2. Open a run to see its line items. Recompute re-runs the calculation against current rules.
  3. On Fringe Contributions, select New fringe run and enter worker hours. The engine fans out over each effective fund for the classification and produces one line per worker and fund. From a run you can generate remittance reports, Record invoice, Record payment, Reconcile, then Finalize run or Cancel run.
  4. On Retro Pay, select New retro run, give a work period and optional Reason, and add paid work records. Each record is re-priced using the classification rate effective on its work date.

Paying the funds

  1. On Payees, select Add Payee, choose a Payee type (Union Local or Fringe Fund), and enter the Routing number and Account number. Bank numbers are encrypted before storage and only the last four digits are shown afterwards.
  2. On Bank Settings, record your Company name, Company ID, Originating DFI routing, and Settlement account. These appear in the company and batch header records of generated NACHA ACH files, so ACH file generation stays unavailable until they are filled in.

Availability

Union & Labor Compliance is a paid add-on. It is not included in any plan. Pricing is by member band — Up to 50 members, Up to 250 members, or Unlimited members — selected on the upsell card under Union member count, then Add to subscription. Access unlocks in place when the purchase completes; you do not need to reload.

If you told us during onboarding that you employ unionized workers, the Union section appears in your sidebar before you have bought anything. Opening it shows the add-on page rather than the workspace. That is expected, not an error — the navigation is a signal of interest, and access is enforced separately.

Change your member band or cancel from Settings → Billing. For how modules and entitlements differ, see Modules, packs, and plans. Certified payroll is a separate entitlement — see Certified Payroll.
